Police are appealing for information after one of three stolen vehicles allegedly crashed into a dairy in Wellington early this morning.
At around 4.20am Thursday, police were called to a dairy, where they found a previously stolen 2007 Toyota Caldina, registration KWM241, abandoned after a failed ram-raid in Newtown.
"Inquiries revealed nothing was stolen from the dairy and the vehicle had previously been stolen from Rua St, Lyall Bay earlier in the night," police said.
"The offender is alleged to have exited the vehicle reportedly entering a nearby white 2005 Toyota Caldina (KDP612), which had been stolen from a Mornington Rd, Brooklyn address earlier that morning."
A third vehicle – a silver 2000 Honda Accord (FAJ992), which was believed to have been taken from a home in Palmerston North sometime earlier – is also believed to have been involved.
Two of the vehicles have been seized, but the white 2005 Caldina was still missing.
Inquiries to identify and locate the people involved in the thefts and crash were ongoing.
Anyone who saw the vehicles overnight, including travelling from Palmerston North, was asked to contact police.
