Lulu Sun will become the first New Zealand woman to appear in a single's quarterfinal at Wimbledon when she steps out against Croatia's Donna Vekic overnight.
Sun, who recently switched allegiences from Switzerland to New Zealand - the land of her birth - got through qualifying before swatting aside her main draw rivals on her way to the final eight at the grass court grand slam.
She overcame British favourite Emma Raducanu 6-2 5-7 6-2 in the fourth round yesterday morning - surpassing the previous best by a Kiwi woman at Wimbledon - Dame Ruia Morrison who made it through to the fourth round in 1959.
Sun, 23, and Vekic will play the first quarterfinal tonight on court one, which will not begin before midnight.
The match will be available to watch live and free on TVNZ+ and TVNZ 1 from 11.55pm.
