A man has been arrested after a robbery at a fast food restaurant in Auckland's south over the weekend which saw staff allegedly threatened and their personal items stolen.
An investigation was launched after officers responded to reports of a robbery at the Hall St restaurant in Pukekohe at around 5am on Saturday.
"The staff working at the time were subjected to verbal threats and had personal belongings stolen," Detective Inspector Karen Bright said.
"The man allegedly made threats he was in possession of a firearm at the time of the robbery; however, we have not established the presence of a firearm."
By the time officers arrived at the restaurant, the man had already fled on foot.
Yesterday afternoon, police arrested a 51-year-old man, Bright said. He was charged with robbery and is set to appear in the Pukekohe District Court today.
"It's unacceptable staff simply coming to work to do their jobs should be subjected to this behaviour and it is pleasing we have made an arrest in this case," Bright said.
