A man has been rescued after getting stuck in a hole in a backyard in Perth for three and a half hours.
Emergency services were called after the man became stuck in waist-deep sand inside a three-metre-deep hole in Hillarys around 3pm yesterday, Nine News reports.
The 46-year-old and his landlord had been digging the hole over the past four days while searching for a sewer line. His leg was trapped after the sand gave way.
"They just want to find the main sewer, so they can connect the existing pipe to the main sewer, splitting these two houses – that's all it was," the man's housemate told Nine.
The man was rescued at 6.30pm after a specialist vacuum truck was called to the scene.
He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
