A man has been arrested after allegedly spitting and throwing objects at officers at a home in Hawke's Bay this morning.

Police say they were making inquiries at a property in Ongaonga when they were confronted by the occupants, who were agitated and aggressive.

The residents allegedly spat and threw objects at the officers.

A 27-year-old man was taken into custody and will be charged with assaulting police.

St John was not required for medical treatment.
