Two injured, one critical, in two vehicle Bay of Plenty crash

Two people are injured after a two-vehicle crash in Bay of Plenty this afternoon.

"One person is in a critical condition and one person is in a serious condition," police said.

Police responded to the incident on Athenree Rd, approximately 1km from the intersection with State Highway 2, in the Western Bay of Plenty District area at around 2.50pm today.

Athnree Rd was closed and motorists were advised to take an alternative route and to expect delays.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
