A pedestrian critically injured after being struck by a car in Central Wellington earlier this week has died.
Emergency services were called to the collision on Ghuznee St around 10.50pm on Monday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rachael Boyd said "our thoughts are with their family and loved ones".
"Police investigating the matter are still wanting to hear from anyone who was travelling on or near Ghuznee St around 10.50pm on Monday."
This included any dashcam or CCTV footage from the area at the time.
"Police are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward, so we can understand the circumstances that have led to this tragedy."
The victim was on the road at the time of the collision and Boyd earlier said the driver may not have been aware of what they hit. He said it was possible their vehicle may have suffered some damage.
Traffic was being diverted onto Ghuznee St due to the closure of the Terrace Tunnel that night.
Anyone with relevant information should contact police on 105.
