Pedestrian dies a week after being hit by car at Auckland's Westgate

A person has died a week after they were left "critically injured" following a serious crash that resulted in road closures at Auckland's Westgate.

Police said the incident occurred at around 4.20pm on Friday, June 14.

"A pedestrian crossing the road was struck by a car on Westgate Drive at around 4.20pm. The pedestrian has been taken to hospital with critical injuries," police said at the time.

Police have now confirmed the pedestrian died yesterday.

"The road was closed between Lazurite Drive and Fernhill Drive while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene," police said.

Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash were still ongoing.
