A New Zealand citizen has died while at the Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said consular assistance was being provided to the person’s family.
Nearly two million people have attended the pilgrimage this year, with more than 1000 people dying amid temperatures that have passed 50C.
An Australian is also reported to be among those who died during the Hajj pilgrimage to Islam's holy sites.
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade confirmed it was providing consular assistance to the pilgrim's family but was unable to provide further details due to privacy obligations.
"We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time," a spokesperson said in a statement.
Perth Imam Yahya Adel Ibrahim, who completed the Hajj this year, knew of the Australian who had died.
"I can't share too many details... but it is somebody who was elderly, who sadly found his last moments seeking God," he told ABC radio.
"Death for us, as people of faith, is not something that we embrace but, at the same time, it's something that we understand can be part of the will of God."
The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It draws people from around the world to Saudi Arabia.
Its timing was determined by the lunar Islamic calendar, and this year fell within the Saudi summer.
