Police say the death of an infant in West Auckland yesterday remains "unexplained".
The infant died in the suburb of Rānui yesterday morning.
"No arrests have been made, and the death is still being treated as unexplained," police said in a statement.
"Police are still awaiting results of a post-mortem examination as part of our inquiries."
According to a coroner's report, in early April 2022 a four-month-old baby died at the same property.
In the report, it said the baby girl died from sudden unexpected death in infancy, associated with unsafe sleep.
Among the coroner's recommendations from the report, it said if there were to be a more serious focus on preventing such deaths, there needed to be more research into why safe sleep messages were not being listened to.
These recommendations were sent to several agencies, including the Ministry of Health.
