Pedestrian dies after crash in Auckland's Mt Albert

A pedestrian has died following a crash in Auckland's Mt Albert this afternoon.

The crash, involving a car and a pedestrian, was reported to police around 4.47pm on New North Rd near Ballast Ln.

"Sadly police can confirm the pedestrian died at the scene despite being provided medical assistance at the scene," police said in an update this evening.

"An investigation will now commence to establish the full set of circumstances surrounding the serious crash."

New North Rd was closed at the intersections with Mount Albert Rd and McLean St but has since reopened.
