A cordon is in place and the bomb squad called in after an “undetonated shell” was found underneath a house in Dunedin.
Police were called to Corstorphine Road at around 7.40am after reports of what looks like an artillery shell was found under the house.
“The shell is likely to have been under the house for a considerable amount of time,” a police spokesperson said.
The house has been cordoned off while a decision is made on how to remove the shell.
“Staff have put a scene guard in place, and the explosive ordnance disposal team is due to attend later today.
“None of the nearby residents have needed to be evacuated at this stage.”
