Everyone has experienced or heard stories about nightmare rentals – but according to investigators, these may take the cake.
After an investigators found "multiple" issues with flats in Mataura, one landlord has been ordered to pay more than $20,000 as a result of renting out "badly neglected" flats.

2 NZDF called in after 'undetonated shell' found under Dunedin home
In positive news, it's a good thing this discovery was not in fact a blast from the past.
A cordon was put in place today and the bomb squad called in after an "undetonated shell" was found underneath a house in Dunedin.
Speaking on the discovery, a police spokesperson said it had likely been under the house for a "considerable amount of time".

SailGP has withdrawn from hosting next season's New Zealand leg in Christchurch after hosting the event there for the past two years.
ChristchurchNZ said it accepted SailGP’s decision to withdraw from hosting the event as the original agreement meant for Christchurch to host two events over a four-year period, while alternating with Auckland.
The announcement follows a blistering interview SailGP's chief executive Sir Russell Coutt's had with 1News during the event in Christchurch earlier this year.
5 Airline fined for ignoring order not to board NZ-bound passenger
The Commerce Commission has accused supermarket operator Foodstuffs North Island of lodging land covenants, with the purpose of blocking competitors from opening rival supermarkets at particular sites.
Commission chairman John Small said land covenants have the potential to harm competition by raising barriers to entry or expansion in a market, making it harder for rival businesses to compete effectively and gain scale.

Pop star Justin Timberlake was charged with drunken driving in a village in New York's Hamptons.
Police said he ran a stop sign and veered out of his lane in the posh seaside summer retreat.
"His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odour of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests," the court papers said.
