Central state highway blocked after truck rolls south of Taihape

State Highway 1 just south of Taihape is blocked after a truck and trailer rolled earlier this morning.

Police said a heavy truck and trailer unit overturned on the highway around 5am.

"There are no injuries but the highway will remain closed for some time until the truck and trailer is removed," a police spokesperson said.

New Zealand Transport Agency advised motorists to delay their journey or avoid the area.

"There is no detour available, however SH4 could be considered as an alternate route," it said.

The next update was expected later this morning.
