A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital in a critical condition by helicopter after a two-vehicle crash near Feilding this afternoon.

Police said the crash at the intersection of Camerons Line and Waughs Rd, Aorangi, was reported around 12.20pm.

Hato Hone St John said a helicopter and ambulances responded to the crash.

"Our crews assessed and treated two patients: one in a critical condition airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital, and one in moderate condition transported to Palmerston North Hospital by road," said a spokesperson.

The road has since reopened.
