Scott Robertson has added two new faces to join his All Black coaching ranks, with one entering a newly created role for the national team.

Corey Flynn and David Hill will join the All Blacks during the 2024 Test season as specialist coaches for throwing and kicking.

Flynn will fill a newly-created ‘throwing coach’ role, while Hill will continue as kicking coach for the next two years. Hill, a Chiefs assistant, has overseen All Black kickers since 2017.

The pair join Robertson’s impressive line-up of coaches alongside Leon MacDonald, Jason Ryan, Jason Holland and Tamati Ellison as assistants.

Flynn, a former Canterbury and Crusaders hooker, played 15-Tests for the All Blacks. His last Test was at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

“It’s a bit of an odd feeling coming back into the All Blacks after such a long time since I pulled on the jersey. It brings up some of those feelings I had as a player, but of course it’s also a bit different being part of the coaching and management group,” said Flynn.

“It’s a huge privilege to get the call up and I can’t wait to get in there and make a positive impact.”

Hill is currently an assistant coach at the Chiefs but has also been involved with the New Zealand Under-20s, the Blues, and Bay of Plenty in the NPC.

“Any time the All Blacks come calling, you want to put your best foot forward, so when Scott approached me to continue the work I’ve been doing with the kickers, I jumped at the chance,” said Hill.

All Blacks assistant coach Jason Ryan said Flynn’s new throwing role would be a significant addition.

“It’s the first time the All Blacks have had a specialist throwing resource and it’s a crucial area of the game because throwers need throwers to understand the craft.”

The All Blacks first Test series under Robertson kicks off in July as they take on England in Dunedin and Auckland.
