Watch: Day one of Fieldays shows something for everyone

Thousands of people turned out for day one of the annual Fieldays at Mystery Creek near Hamilton.

There were long traffic queues and lines for tickets as the event that’s been going more than half a century opened its doors.

Twelve-year-olds Hannah and Hollie told 1News the best thing about Fieldays were "the food and a day off school".

Farmers, fencers, kiwifruit growers and keen hunters also among the throngs looking at the vast array of goods for sale, including utes, motorbikes, tractors, boats, clothing and fencing equipment.

The projects of than fifty enterprise groups were also on display as part of a competition for business innovation, sustainability and innovation.

Competitions include tractor racing on vehicles ranging from the traditional workhorse to racing versions of the farm classic.

Fieldays runs for four days until Saturday, June 15.

If day one is anything to go by, there’s something for everyone of all ages.
