Would you pay to have someone watch you work from home?

A US-based company is levelling up work from home productivity through a paid service where people virtually watch you work, designed to get important work done without distractions.

The Caveday global community leads deep-focus Zoom sessions between 30 minutes and three hours long, in which users are able to log on and focus during each "sprint" period before a structured break typically involving stretching or breathing exercises.

Caveday co-founder Jeremy Redleaf told Breakfast people who are working from home are "surviving, but not quite thriving yet".

"We really need to do something different if we're going to work from home in this new environment.

"A few years ago, we created Caveday which [is] a group experience where we can shut out the world together and really focus on what we want to get done."

He described the concept as similar to signing up for a group fitness class, which can be a helpful motivational tool when people are surrounded by others operating in a similar environment.

"Some people can go to the gym, see the dumbbells and they're ready to go. They can go for 90 minutes. Not me", he laughed. "I need to sign up for a class. I need the instructor to tell me what to do, tell me when to start and stop [and] cheer me on when I start looking off into space.

"Caveday is more like a group fitness class, but instead of working on your body, you're working on your brain.

"We stretch together, we breathe together and then we celebrate as you cross the finish line."

Redleaf said it is easier to work in an environment where other people are already "doing what you are doing".

"It's easier to co-regulate our nervous systems and we're able to work for longer. So, it's about putting yourself in the right environment. I know if I go with that fitness class, I'm not going to walk out, I'm going to be too embarrassed to walk out."

He said some people who "can't even get through half a day of work" have managed to finish books, write speeches and generally finish tasks they never thought possible.

"If it works for you, it's really transformational."
