The bodies have now been formally identified by family from Australia who visited the morgue in the Mexican city of Enseneada.

The parents of two brothers killed "execution-style" on a surfing trip in Mexico have farewelled their sons in a heartfelt ceremony held in Perth.

The two Australian brothers Jake, 31, and Callum Robinson, 32, along with their American friend, were killed "execution style" while in Mexico on a surf trip. Their parents first raised the alarm when they had not been in contact or checked into their accommodation as planned.

The brothers' bodies were later discovered 10m down a well south of the city of Ensenada.

Three Mexican nationals have since been charged in connection with the killings. Authorities described it as a "robbery gone wrong", with the alleged offenders attempting to steal the tyres of a ute before being confronted.

Yesterday hundreds of people gathered at Sacred Heart College in the northern Perth suburb of Sorrento, Western Australia, where the brothers had spent their high school years.

9News reported their parents, Debra and Martin Robinson, reflected on their sons' "beautiful lives" at the memorial service.

"Callum and Jake meant so much to us and it's still hard to imagine life without them," Debra said.

"They were intelligent, respectful men and they had so much more to offer the world.

"They loved life and they followed their dreams."

Close friends and family of the brothers reflected upon fond memories of the pair, including their love of adventure.

"We're not here to dwell on the where or the how or try to understand the why of their passing but instead to say goodbye to two young men and hopefully start the healing process," Martin said.
