1 Woman 'poked' with hunting knife on Auckland train and spat at

A woman is disappointed with a train manager's response after she was "poked" with a large hunting knife by a woman who threatened and spat on her while on a train to Papakura on Wednesday night.

A woman sat next to the passenger on her bag before she felt a "pinching", which she soon discovered was a hunting knife.

The passenger tried to raise the alarm, shouting that the woman had a knife, causing the offender to start abusing her but this drew no response from the train manager.

2 National MP referred to police over failure to report donations

National MP for New Plymouth David MacLeod has been referred to the police by the Electoral Commission over a failure to report $178,394 worth of candidate donations.

MacLeod’s original candidate return for the 2023 General Election was filed on February 13, 2024. The total donations disclosed were $29,268 from seven separate donors.

"I will cooperate fully," MacLeod said.

3 Woman loses use of legs after 'nangs' overdose

An Auckland woman who lost the movement of her legs after inhaling nitrous oxide is urging the Government to regulate the retail supply of the gas.

Known on the streets as "nangs" or "laughing gas", nitrous oxide has been used as a sedative for pain relief for more than 150 years, but it has also been used as a recreational drug.

The woman used it for pain relief but quickly became addicted, ending up in hospital and unable to feel her legs.

4 Parking nightmare: Drivers blocking cars in Auckland car park

Park goers are fed up with drivers leaving cars parked in front of other vehicles in Victoria Park car park in downtown Auckland.

The spaces in the Victoria Park car park are free for 180 minutes, allowing drivers to park near the skate park, basketball courts and playing fields.

One of the carpark's users said some drivers arrive at 4am and leave their cars parked until 5pm.

5 Baby Reindeer's alleged 'real Martha' sues Netflix for $274m

The woman who claims to be the inspiration for the stalker in Netflix's hit series Baby Reindeer has sued the streamer — seeking damages of at least NZD$274m.

Fiona Harvey publicly said the character of Martha — portrayed by Jessica Gunning — was based on her.

She was suing Netflix alleging defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence, and violations of her right of publicity.
