Name, logo for Stuff's 6pm news bulletin revealed

The new 6pm bulletin is called ThreeNews.

Stuff and Warner Bros Discovery have revealed the name and logo of their new nightly news bulletin.

The new 6pm bulletin would be called ThreeNews — harking back to the old 3 News brand.

It would go to air in July, replacing the current Newshub bulletin.

The logo matched other Warner Bros Discovery offerings such as ThreeNow, coloured in Stuff's preferred purple.

"Before we had Newshub we had 3 News, we felt that the name ThreeNews was both a nod to our storied history, but also different enough to show that this isn’t a continuation of our older news offering but an evolution," said head of networks Juliet Peterson.

"Stuff isn't just reproducing what we've always had. It's going to be an exciting new bulletin while still retaining Three's unique touch and approach," she added.

Stuff's managing director of digital Nadia Tolich said the new bulletin would be "both familiar and fresh".

Last month Warner Bros confirmed it was shutting its newsroom and ending programming, with the loss of up to 300 jobs.

Some of those whose jobs were cut have picked up roles on the new bulletin.

TVNZ has also undergone significant changes recently, with Sunday, Fair Go, Midday and Tonight all no longer being broadcast.

The Fair Go brand is set to live on — with a new four-person long-form consumer and current affairs team to make content for TVNZ's digital platforms.
