Fire and Emergency NZ are attending the scene of a large building fire in Onehunga this evening.
Local resident Gina Lio told 1News she could "smell smoke" inside her house at about 5.30pm.
It was then she walked outside and saw the building on fire across the road.
Comments on social media reported the building was a hair salon, across the road from Brick by Brick café on Onehunga Mall Road.

Fire and Emergency NZ said it was called to the scene around 5.30pm, sending multiple crews. The blaze was extinguished by 6.30pm.
Police said officers were in the area, assisting with road closures around the blaze.
