A group of tourists could not believe their luck as snow fell across Southland and Otago today.
It comes as several snow warnings were issued across the South Island as a chilly front made its way up Te Waipounamu.
An Argentinian tourist travelling with Cheeky Kiwi Tours said she was not used to the snow.
“In Buenos Aires, it never snows, only twice in 100 years, so this is amazing.”

Another tourist said it was a “perfect” day and that the snow fell fast.
“It was green and yellow six hours ago. It’s all white now. More than what I paid for,” she said.
A car overturned in Lindis Pass due to the conditions, as MetService urged drivers in affected areas to take care.

MetService issued a heavy snow warning for southern Canterbury, while heavy snow watches were issued for Fiordland, Southland and Otago.
Snow could lower to 200 metres in some areas, MetService said.
There were also snowfall warnings for Lindis Pass, with up to 10cm of snow expected near the summit, and Haast Pass, with up to 3cm of snow forecast on the road south of the summit.
Crown Range Road could see up to 4cm of snow near the summit, Porters Pass could have up to 3cm of snow near the summit, and Milford Road could have up to 5cm of snow above 700 metres.
