Fifty firefighters contain factory fire in Auckland's Takanini

A large fire has been contained in Auckland's Takanini this morning.

Firefighters have contained a large factory fire which had spread to multiple cars in Auckland's Takanini this morning.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) spokesperson said they were alerted at 3am to a "large fire" which saw "multiple street cars" also catch fire on Great South Rd.

In an update at 6.30am, FENZ said "the fire has been contained".

There were no reported injuries.

At its peak, 13 trucks and 50 firefighters were required to tackle the blaze.

One truck and a fire investigator remain at the scene.

Police said it was called to assist FENZ around 3am. A spokesperson said: "At this stage, inquiries are ongoing to understand the circumstances."
