Veteran news anchor Samantha Hayes has been announced as the solo presenter for Stuff's yet-to-be-named 6pm news bulletin.

In April, Warner Bros. Discovery confirmed it would be closing its newsroom, with its Newshub 6pm bulletin, website and early morning AM show to be scrapped as of July 5.

Soon after it was revealed that Stuff would be taking over the slot and is set to provide a daily news bulletin to be aired on Three. The bulletins will launch on July 6.

This morning, Stuff revealed a number of high-profile journalists and staff from Newshub will work on the new bulletin, as well as several other news products.

Leading the charge will be Hayes, who has presented the Newshub bulletin alongside Mike McRoberts since 2016.

"I'm thrilled to be starting a new chapter of my career with Stuff after nearly two decades at Three. It's an honour to be anchoring this new iteration of the 6pm news, and I'm grateful it will keep Newshub's legacy alive," she said.

"This is the most exciting news project in the country, and I hope our viewers will trust us and come along for the ride."

Other journalists, including Jenna Lynch, Laura Tupou, Ollie Ritchie, Juliet Speedy, Zane Small, and Heather Keats, are also set to join the Stuff bulletin.

"Newshub, like Stuff, is known for its gutsy journalism and the calibre of the journalists we've hired reflects that," Stuff digital managing director Nadia Tolich said.

"Like all of our journalists, they will work across our ecosystem of products in a variety of roles. Their specialised skills will complement the teams we have producing our digital, audio, video and print news products."
