Ryan Bridge confirmed as Newstalk ZB Early Edition host

New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) announced its new Early Edition host today.

New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) has announced television broadcaster Ryan Bridge as the new host for Newstalk ZB's Early Edition programme.

Bridge most recently spent two-and-a-half years as a co-host on Three's AM Show — which has since been axed by Newshub's parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery.

The closure also affects all of Three's news output, including Newshub, a previously planned Ryan Bridge show at 7pm and Paddy Gower Has Issues.

NZME chief audio officer Jason Winstanley said Bridge is a "popular, talented broadcaster".

"I know our listeners will enjoy waking up to Ryan sharing the latest news and providing analysis of the stories making headlines each weekday morning, and we can't wait to have him on board."

NZME chief executive Michael Boggs said he's looking forward to having Bridge join NZME's large group of talented, award-winning journalists and on-air hosts.

Early Edition runs from 5am to 6am weekdays on Newstalk ZB, covering international and domestic news, sport, business and entertainment.

Bridge will start as Early Edition host on Monday, July 8.
