Wife of Black Caps bowler diagnosed with leukemia

Tickner and his family had only arrived in England last month as the 30-year-old plays for country club Derbyshire.

Black Caps bowler Blair Tickner has announced that his wife has been diagnosed with Leukemia.

The 34-test cricketer said in a post to social media that Sarah was undergoing treatment in the United Kingdom until she is in remission.

"Life has dealt us a really bad hand this time," the Central Stags player said.

"This strong and beautiful woman will get through any challenge. We have no doubt she will get through this and we can have the family back together. Thanks to all our friends & family for all the love, support & positivity.”

The Tickners are also well known in Hawke's Bay for the cafe they own and operate at the Hastings Sport Park – 13th Stag.

“Wishing Sarah all the best with recovery brother! Lots of love to you all,” Black Caps and Central Districts teammate Ajaz Patel commented.
