1 Angela Blackmoore: Jail for pair over young mother's 1995 murder
Two people found guilty of murdering Angela Blackmoore nearly 30 years ago have been sentenced at the High Court in Christchurch to life behind bars.
David Hawken and Rebecca Wright-Meldrum were given a minimum non-parole period of 10 years.
The pair pleaded not guilty to the 1995 crime but, after an almost five-week trial in December, a 12-person jury returned guilty verdicts for Hawken and Wright-Meldrum.
Blackmoore was a young pregnant mother when she was killed at her Wainoni home on August 17, 1995.
2 Iran fires air defence batteries in provinces, explosions heard
Iran fired air defence batteries early Friday after reports of explosions near a major airbase at the city of Isfahan, the state-run IRNA news agency reported.
It remained unclear whether the country was under attack. However, tensions remain high after Iran’s unprecedented missile-and-drone attack on Israel. One government official suggested sites may have been targeted by drones.
The Israeli military did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Two young pole-vaulters are also making their Olympic debuts. Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Imogen Ayris and Olivia McTaggart will travel to Paris subject to the pair meeting performance conditions.

ONE PIECE OF RELATIONSHIP ADVICE
Have you ever wondered if your partner really loves you? Thousands of TikTok users have — and are testing their theories for the world to see.
In the past year we’ve seen a rise in TikTok trends that purport to “test” a partner’s loyalty or the strength of a couple’s relationship. These tests vary in severity, from telling your partner you saw a cool bird and hoping they respond with equal enthusiasm, to asking an influencer to flirt with them to see if they’ll cheat.
If this sounds stressful or potentially problematic to you, that’s because it is.
