A cyclist has been critically injured after a crash involving a truck on Auckland's Dairy Flat Highway this morning.

Emergency services were called to the crash shortly before 11.30am, where a cyclist was found to have suffered "critical injuries" and was being transported to hospital.

"Dairy Flat Highway is closed in both directions and motorists are advised to avoid the area," a police spokesperson said.

The serious crash unit has been advised and will examine the scene.
