The baby girl injured in Saturday's Westfield Bondi Junction stabbing rampage has been moved to a ward from intensive care.
NSW Health said in a statement the little girl remained in a serious but stable condition at Sydney Children's Hospital.
Her mother Ash Good, 38, was one of six people killed by Joel Cauchi.
A witness told 9News that the baby was stabbed before her mother was attacked, but Good managed to hand her child on to a man so he could seek help.
Another eyewitness also spoke of the traumatic scene at Westfield Bondi.
"We just tried to help with holding the baby and to compress the baby, and staying with the mother and trying to compress the blood."
The girl was one of a number of people injured in the attack — five other people remain in hospital — two in intensive care and three on wards.
Mall prepares to reopen
Westfield Bondi Junction will open to the public on Thursday for a "community reflection day" with retailers remaining closed, with businesses allowed to resume trade from Friday.
Scentre Group CEO Elliott Rusanow said on Thursday the centre would be a quiet place for the community to go and pay their respects after Saturday's stabbing attack, which claimed the lives of six people.
Security levels would be raised as the public returned to the shopping centre.
“There will be an increased security presence, there will be an increase in the equipment that the security guards have to wear, but more importantly there’ll be an increased police presence,” Rusanow said.
