Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are producing two new Netflix shows, the streaming service announced, focusing on cooking and a US polo championship.

The shows are part of a multi-year deal between Netflix and Archwell Productions, which was founded by the royal couple in 2020 following the announcement the pair would be standing down as senior members of the royal family.

The first new series will look at gardening, cooking, friendship and entertaining, according to Reuters.

Netflix has said Markle will serve as an executive producer and will "curate" the show.

The second series, which will follow the US Open Polo Championship in Florida, will be produced by both Prince Harry and Markle.

It will follow the competition and the polo industry's social scene, Reuters said.

Deadline reported a statement about the show said: "Known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level."

Netflix has said both series are in early production, and release dates and titles will be announced "in the coming months".

Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria said at the Next on Netflix event in February the couple had several projects in development.

She added: "They have a couple of unscripted things they're working on … and they actually have like a bunch of development.

"They have a movie in development, a (scripted) series that they're working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show and a couple of unscripted shows. But yeah, the movie's great."
