Pedestrian in serious condition after Katikati crash on SH2

Motorists are being asked to avoid an area of central Katikati following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

The incident happened on Main Street, SH2, near Beach Road about 6.15pm.

The pedestrian was said to be in a serious condition.

"The road will be closed while the Serious Crash Unit conducts a scene examination," said police.

Motorists were asked to take alternate routes.
