Two people have been arrested in relation to the Hastings shooting that occurred last weekend following a rugby game.
At around 3.30pm on April 6, shots were fired at a van carrying a group of Raupunga rugby players home from a game at Bill Mathewson Park.
The shots were fired on Willowpark Rd.
The vehicle was also rammed while it was being driven.
Police have said the arrested pair faced charges of reckless driving and unlawful assembly. They appeared in Hastings District Court yesterday and were expected to reappear in the coming weeks.
"Several vehicles" were also seized after multiple search warrants were executed, police said.
Police believed this was a "targeted incident".
"We have rugby fans spread throughout our community and the expectation is that people who attend games do so for the right reasons, not to agitate and commit offences," Detective Inspector Martin James said.
Prior to the shots, officers were called to Hawke's Bay Rugby Club at Bill Mathewson Park in Hastings.
"Police arrived and separated the parties, where the group was dispersed. No injuries were sustained in either incident," a spokesperson said.
