Police discovered a "clandestine lab" at an Auckland property this morning – and have now revealed they were there searching for wanted man Ralph Park, who's suspected of involvement in a "violent" alleged kidnapping.
1News at 6pm reported it was understood the property was owned by former Auckland mayor Phil Goff.
Police would only confirm the property was being rented out and managed by a local real estate agency for the owners who were overseas.
Police alongside Fire and Emergency crews closed off Creighton Rd in Clevedon this morning.
An Eagle helicopter was seen circling overhead.
"There is a pre-planned search warrant ongoing in the area," a police spokesperson said earlier.
Hone Hato St John referred all inquiries to police – who have now confirmed what they were looking for.

"Police efforts remain ongoing to locate wanted Auckland man Ralph Park," a spokesperson said. Park is being sought after an alleged kidnapping in Auckland's Beach Haven last week. Two people have already been charged in relation to the incident.
"If you see Ralph Park, continue to consider him dangerous and do not approach him. Contact Police immediately on 111."
This morning's search
Police approached the Creightons Rd rental property before sunrise this morning as part of the investigation into the "violent" event.
"On approaching the address, our staff have encountered occupants at the address who became obstructive towards them," said Detective Inspector Callum McNeill.
"On approaching the address, our staff have encountered occupants at the address who became obstructive towards them.
"We can confirm a clandestine laboratory has since been discovered at the property."
Police noted officers spent "some time" speaking with the occupants "before entry to the property could safely be carried out".
However, Park was nowhere to be seen. He was described as 166cm tall and of thin build.
"Our investigation team are continuing to carry out a thorough examination of the rural property, and at this stage we can't advise of any further items of interest located," McNeill said.
"A 35-year-old man was arrested at the address and will be facing charges relating to the clandestine laboratory that was discovered."
Police said the property was managed by a local real estate agency and its owners were overseas. Police were in contact with the owners, McNeill said.
The man arrested today was expected in Manukau District Court tomorrow.
