One dead and another injured in crash near Tekapo

One person has died following a crash on State Highway 8, near Tekapo.

Police were first called to the scene of the single-vehicle crash at about 3.17pm.

"One person died at the scene, a second person has sustained moderate injuries," said police.

State Highway 8/Fairlie-Tekapo Road remained closed, while the serious crash unit attended the scene.
