One dead after Northland crash

One person has died following a single-vehicle crash in Northland this morning.

Emergency services first responded to the crash at Ōkaihau, north of Kaikohe, at about 8.40am.

"Sadly, one person received critical injuries and died at the scene," said a police spokesperson.

"Police extend our condolences to their friends and family at this difficult time."

The scene has since been cleared and the road reopened.

The Serious Crash Unit was in attendance and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were ongoing.
