A young Perth man who was brutally stabbed in the stomach and thigh after a Facebook Marketplace sale went wrong last week has warned other would-be sellers.
Western Australian police are calling on the public to help find the attacker who stabbed the seller in an inner-city Perth suburb.
The victim, 20-year-old Will, was in the process of selling some jewellery to the man after advertising it on the social media platform.
He agreed to meet the man just before 10.30am last Thursday to exchange the items.
As he was showing the man the jewellery, he ran off with it, prompting the victim to chase after him.
Despite a bystander intervening, Will was stabbed once in the torso and once in the upper thigh.
Will is still coming to terms with the severity of the attack.
“It's like something you see in the movies, you can't imagine what it's like," he told 9News.
"Luckily it didn't hit anything."
Emergency surgery was required to check his organs had not been punctured by the stabbing.
“I was out for about four or five hours and it was very excruciating for a few days following and I'm still in a bit of pain.
Detective Acting Sergeant Millie Phelan encouraged the attacker to hand himself in.
“These kinds of acts are cowardly and incredibly violent and the victim is very lucky to have escaped with no life changing injuries,” she said.
“Violence of this nature will not be tolerated and is unacceptable.”
