Police name victim of Easter weekend fatal crash

Police have named the victim of a fatal crash in the Bay of Plenty over the long weekend.

Kiefer Bryers, 27, from the Rotorua suburb of Koutu, died early on Sunday morning in a crash on State Highway 5, Whakarewarewa, south of Rotorua.

"Police extend our condolences to Kiefer's family and friends at this difficult time," a police spokesperson said today.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."

This year was the worst Easter long weekend road toll since 2021 with seven deaths.
