Police are awaiting test results from a knife that was recovered from the scene of a fatal 100-person brawl in Gisborne last month.

Kane Wiremu Te Paa, 30, and Chrysler Stevens-Mark, 21, died in the altercation on Gisborne's Lytton Rd on March 23.

The party had been a birthday celebration for Stevens-Mark.

A 25-year-old man and a a 29-year-old man have been jointly charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

"Police continue to review all information gathered in relation to the party," Detective Inspector Dave de Lange said today.

"A number of exhibits have been sent to ESR for analysis — including a knife which was recovered from the scene."

Three men taken to hospital after the incident have now been discharged, he added.

"Police are continuing to review the charges laid against the two arrested men."

Anyone with relevant information, photos or video was urged to contact police by calling 105 or using the dedicated online portal.

Police also asked anyone who was at the party to get in touch.

"Prior to uninvited guests arriving, the partygoers had been having a great night and there were no problems," de Lange has said.

"This is a tragedy that didn't need to happen."

Police said earlier this week they were reviewing some footage from the incident .

Officers have "spoken to most of those who were at the party".
