Hurricanes and All Blacks halfback Cam Roigard has had surgery on his knee following an injury suffered at the weekend and faces six months on the sidelines.
A statement from the Hurricanes this morning said Roigard, in excellent form for the table-topping Super Rugby Pacific side, ruptured his left patella tendon in the victory against the Highlanders on Saturday.
He went under the knife in Auckland yesterday.
The injury will be a huge blow for him personally as well as the Hurricanes and All Blacks as the injury will rule him out of the rest of Super Rugby, the All Blacks' July domestic series against England and Fiji and entire Rugby Championship.
If his rehabilitation goes to plan, Roigard, 23, will likely be available for the All Blacks' November Northern Hemisphere tour.
In his absence, Blues halfback Finlay Christie will likely be Scott Robertson's first choice halfback, with Highlander Folau Fakatava also potentially in the mix.
