This week's Good Sorts are a group of West Coast students who signed up for a conservation course – having no idea what a difference it would make.

The students come from five different schools across the region, with the course they signed up for run by a private training establishment through the regional trade academy.

It all began when the students decided to help the community by planting native trees.

Soon, a trust was born they called Trees for Change.

"It helps us breathe and we need more native bush because all the companies, you need wood to make houses," a student in Trees for Change explained.

Every student at each Grey District school will be given one tree each to plant at their school, equalling just over 2000 trees to be handed out in total.
