A fourth person has died following a multi-vehicle crash on State Highway 8 near Pukaki on Saturday.
Police initially confirmed three people had died following the crash between Hayman Rd and Tekapo-Canal Rd at around 1.30pm on March 30.
A further three were airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
"This person was one of those in a serious condition and tragically passed away from their injuries overnight," a police spokesperson said.
"Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this difficult time."
Two vehicles and a motorcycle were involved in Saturday's crash, with several of those injured having to be cut out of the wreckage.
State Highway 9 remained closed for most of Saturday evening.
Police have also appealed for information from anyone who witnessed the crash as part of the ongoing investigation.
"Officers have spoken to a number of people who were present at the scene following the crash, but we would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash in order to build a complete picture of what occurred."

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim posted his condolences to the families of the students on social media yesterday morning.
"Condolences to the families of two Malaysian students who died in a road accident in Lake Tekapo, New Zealand," he posted.
The Easter road toll now stands at seven.
The official holiday road toll period began at 4pm on Thursday and ends at 6am on Tuesday.
