TVNZ confirms more free and live sports coverage

March 27, 2024

TVNZ has unveiled its latest tranche of free-to-air sports coverage.

Among the offerings are ANZ Premiership netball, with 15 weeks of Saturday afternoon round-robin matches airing live on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+.

Coverage starts with the season opener on April 13 between the Mystics and Magic.

TVNZ+ and Duke will show the Football Ferns as they play Thailand in two friendly matches on April 6 and 9.

TVNZ will also show Uefa's Euro 2024 tournament, with TVNZ+ screening all 51 matches. Duke will also show 12 matches, including the opening clash between Germany and Scotland on June 15.

TVNZ and Hockey NZ have sealed a multi-year partnership, with games live on TVNZ+.

Black Sticks men's and women's matches will feature, starting with the women playing Japan next month.

New Zealand's domestic Premier Hockey League will be shown in November.

Year-round action from MMA competition Professional Fighters League will also feature on TVNZ+.

"Off the back of our incredible audience for sport over summer, we're excited to back it up with more local and international sports and events across our free-to-air platforms," TVNZ's general manager for sport and events Melodie Robinson said.

"Alongside seeing our own Kiwi sporting superstars across hockey, netball, and football, I'm really looking forward to the PFL. With some of the best MMA athletes going head-to-head in fights scheduled up until December across the leagues, it's year-round entertainment that appeals to a younger audience."
