1 Fair Go: KAREN number plate draws complaint

To celebrate Christmas in 2006 Karen Wilson's husband bought her a very special personalised number plate.

Many years, and many kilometres later, Wilson has found out that not everyone gets such a happy glow looking at her number plate.

Her name — and her number plate — are the same: Karen. And now an email from Waka Kotahi NZTA has told her that someone, somewhere has complained about it.

Apparently the complaint to NZTA says: "KAREN is: Offensive. I can't believe this is allowed."

2 NZ Post confirms 'significant job losses' amid mail decline

NZ Post has confirmed its plans to lay off hundreds of staff over the coming years as mail volumes decline.

The company said it plans to progressively stream mail into its parcel network, which they hope will create a sustainable and cost-effective service through one network.

NZ Post announced in June 2023 they will be consulting on reducing the number of roles, with around 750 to go over five years. It had around 4500 employees.

The actor has been in Auckland for a few months, busy filming the upcoming Minecraft movie but took time on Sunday to chat to various media outlets, as well as surprising fans at a special advance screening of Kung Fu Panda 4.

4 NZ expresses 'concerns' to ambassador over China-backed group's hack

GCSB Minister Judith Collins says the GCSB has established links between a state-sponsored actor linked to China and malicious cyber activity targeting Parliamentary entities in New Zealand.

The revelation prompted New Zealand officials to speak to the Chinese ambassador about the situation.

The revelation comes as she said New Zealand stands with the United Kingdom in its condemnation of the People's Republic of China's (PRC) "state-backed malicious cyber activity".

5 Feilding teacher's punishment 'doesn't give the children justice'

Former staff and parents are disappointed with the penalty for a Feilding early childhood teacher who locked children in rooms, smacked them and fed them out-of-date food.

Pitter Patter Education Centre owner Pauline Murphy has been censured and had her teaching registration cancelled.

The Teachers' Disciplinary Tribunal found her guilty of serious misconduct and multiple breaches of the teachers Code of Professional Responsibility. She has to pay costs of nearly $40,000.
