A member of the community has spoken with police after two young Lower Hutt siblings were hospitalised with horrific injuries.
The two children suffered their injuries at a Stokes Valley address and before that at a Waterloo address, police said.
The children have now been discharged from hospital and are "recovering well", according to police.
Detective senior sergeant Rebecca Cotton told 1News the children are "incredibly resilient" despite the significant trauma they have experienced.
"[They] are receiving support as they recover from their injuries."
And the information from the community member will "form part of our enquiries", Cotton added.
"We continue to ask that anyone with information relating to these children does the right thing and shares that with police."
The investigation into how their injuries were sustained is "progressing" and staff are speaking with family members.
"We continue to have varying degrees of engagement with the family, but police are confident that with the help of the community we can do what is right by these children."
Police urged anyone with information to call 105.
