One person sustained minor injuries following a crash involving a police car just south of the Johnstones Hill northbound tunnel this afternoon.
Inspector Kerry Watson said a police unit was travelling along the Northern Gateway Toll Road just before 4pm on Saturday when another vehicle collided with them.
"The sole person injured was transported to hospital following the crash."
A police officer was checked over by medical staff at the scene and did not sustain any injuries, she said.
"An investigation will now commence into the circumstances of the crash and police have spoken with witnesses at the scene."
A witness told 1News both cars looked "pretty smashed up".
Motorists were advised to expect delays as the road was down to one lane while emergency services respond.
Police were also called to a two-vehicle crash in Waikato this afternoon.
The crash occurred on Arapuni Rd near Powerhouse Rd at around 4pm on Saturday, a spokesperson said.
"Two people have been transported to Waikato Hospital one in a moderate to serious condition, and one with minor injuries."
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and the road has since reopened.
