First came the shock and sadness, then the horror of what it must’ve been like for the Princess of Wales to hear the vicious rumours as she quietly battled cancer.
This has been the reaction as people process the news that yet another high-profile royal has been diagnosed with the dreaded C-word.
The heartfelt video from Princess Catherine was first splashed across all major news outlets at 6pm local time in a co-ordinated release by Kensington Palace.
Kate’s voice wavered at times as she battled through a deeply personal message — but this was the only way it could have been handled to quash the outlandish speculation that has taken hold since her initial surgery in January.
Two months after undergoing abdominal surgery, the Princess of Wales revealed her condition in a personal statement on social media. (Source: 1News)
Unlike King Charles’ cancer announcement, which came via a statement, Princess Catherine could be seen before our own eyes delivering the news herself, in her own words.
You have to empathise with Kate, whether she was well enough or not, there was no other way.
Like the King, there is no further information on what type of cancer or how early it was caught.
The timing of this announcement has been entirely driven by her children, it coincides with them being released for the Easter holidays, giving them three weeks at home to process what’s happening to their mother.
Again, the Royal family is pleading for privacy. It seems that King Charles has been offered that on the whole, and now we wait to see if Kate will be given the same.
