Harry, Meghan send message to Princess Kate after cancer diagnosis

Catherine, Princess of Wales, has announced today her "shock" cancer diagnosis after being hidden from the public eye for the last three months.

Well-wishes for the princess, who is undergoing chemotherapy, have started to flow in.

Her father-in-law, King Charles, led the messages.

Buckingham Palace, on behalf of King Charles, issued the following statement: "His Majesty (HM) is so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did. Following their time in hospital together, HM has 'remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks. Both Their Majesties will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time."

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, issued a statement to US Magazine, saying, "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

The Church of England issued a prayer to the monarch on X.

The prayer reads: "Gracious God, we pray for the continued recovery of the Princess of Wales, for her husband, and for their family.

"Grant to them, and to all who are affected by sickness, faith, hope, and the knowledge of your love, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, has expressed "his thoughts" in a written statement on X.

"The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the whole country," he said.

"I know I speak for the entire country in wishing her a full and speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back in action when she's ready."

The First Minister of Wales Vaughan Gething issued a statement, first in Welsh, the English.

He said he was "deeply saddened to hear the news about HRH The Princess of Wales".

"On behalf of people across Wales, I would like to send our love and support to the Princess and her family at this very difficult time.

"All of our thoughts are with you as you continue your treatment."

Keir Starmer, Party leader of the UK Labour Party, issued a statement to the Princess, paying particular note to the high levels of speculation seen as the princess has been out of the public eye.

"Any cancer diagnosis is shocking," Starmer said in his statement.

"I can only imagine the added stress of receiving that news amid the lurid speculation we've seen in recent weeks...Her Royal Highness will be in our thoughts and prayers as she progresses through her treatment with the love and support of not just her whole family, but the whole nation too."

New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has joined well-wishers on the social media platform, saying his thoughts are with the Princess of Wales.

"I know Kiwis across the country will be wishing her well in her recovery," he posted.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has joined the list of international leaders sending forth support to the Princess.

"On behalf of Canadians, I’m sending my support as she undergoes treatment. We’re all wishing her a swift recovery."

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson commented on X: "Wishing Catherine, The Princess of Wales all possible strength and sending good wishes to her and her family for a full and rapid recovery."

The White House spoke on the situation at a press briefing, saying: "All of us just heard the terrible news. Our thoughts are with the Duchess of Cambridge and her family members and friends during this incredibly difficult time, and we certainly wish her a full recovery."

She added that White House officials believe it is "important that we respect their privacy, especially at this time." She said she would not speak further about the Princess.

US First Lady Jill Biden shared Princess Kate's video, adding the comment, "You are brave, and we love you."

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists - of which Princess Kate is the Patron of - also commented, sending the princess "best wishes for a speedy recovery".

Princess Kate's brother, James Middleton, posted to Instagram, saying: "Over the years, we have climbed many mountains together. As a family, we will climb this one with you too," alongside a photo of the pair in their younger days.
