One hurt in Dunedin house fire

One person was hurt in a house fire in Dunedin's North East Valley last night.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at the rear of a house on North Rd at about 8.30pm.

A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson said four firetrucks responded.

All people were accounted for with one taken to hospital by ambulance, FENZ added.

The fire was contained at about 9.15pm and isn't being treated as suspicious, but a fire inspector will be on scene this morning.

A St John spokesperson said: "Hato Hone St John were notified of an incident on North Rd in North East Valley, Dunedin at 8.33pm yesterday and we responded with one ambulance.

"One patient was assessed on the scene and transported to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition."
