Northland firefighters tackling scrub fire in Ruakākā

Firefighters from across Northland have been called out to battle a scrub fire in Ruakākā, south of Whangārei, this afternoon.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand services say they were called to the scene around 3.23pm.

Crews from Ruakākā, Waipu, Mangawhai and Whangārei were in attendance.

Firefighters from Paparoa and a helicopter were also en route.

The fire was currently estimated to be 50m x 50m in size.
